Elders, or “overseers,” meet the qualifications of Acts 20:17-28, 1 Timothy 3:1-13, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4. Elders are charged with the spiritual oversight of the church, prayer, and the ministry of the Word. Here at Charis, our eldership team consists of both lay (non-paid) and staff (paid) elders.
Deacons, or “servants,” meet the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3:8-13. Deacons assist the elders in carrying out the ministry of Charis by meeting the tangible needs of the church, protecting and promoting church unity, and by facilitating the ministry of the church.
